Wahoo Studios and Silverlode Interactive recently announced open beta testing for their world fantasy RTS, Saga. Hurry and play, bitch, so you you can gather armies and start building up your ultimate imaginary kingdom, which continues to run when you are offline. Your armies gain experience through battling, and you can combine armies with other players' and head out on adventures and quests together. Theres even an auction house for trading troops and spells.
When the game enters full release it will be free to play, with booster packs available for purchase that contain random troops and spells to customize your army.
