EV's guide(no, NOT the pokemon Eevee)Basically, EV's stand for effort values. you gain certain amounts of effort values for defeating certain pokemon, I.E., a geodude gives one EV in defense, graveller two, and Golem three. The same can be said for the Zubat line, except they increase speed.
Now, you may be wondering how EV's work. Well, when you gain 4 EV's in a stat, there would be a 1 stat difference between the same pokemon with the same IV's(Internal values- I'll get to that later) and nature, but no EV's(By being completely rare candied or made lv 100 by a noob hacker), as opposed to , say, a Porygon-Z with 252 EV's in special attack, 252 speed, and 6 HP.
One may be surpirsed as to why that Porygon Z didn't have, say, 1,575,587,678 EV's. Well, that's because the most one stat can have is 255(But it's not divisible by four, so that's a waste of three EV's), and the TOTAL maximum is 510. Check out Serebii or Psypokes to see which pokemon give what EV's, and start EV training for competitive teams!
Also, Macho Brace and Pokerus double EV gains, and YES, they do stack.
This concludes my guide of Effort Values.
