Japan: Wii Don't Watch TVThe Japanese like the Wii so very much they're turning off their televisions to play it (Oh Noe!!), according to a report in the Times Online.
Japanese media insiders families who used to zone out on Japan's terribly awesome dtv diet of weird gameshows and inexplicable soap operas are choosing to spend their prime time playing on the Wii.
"The quality of programming has always been a little cyclical in Japan, but there has never been a period of decline like the one we are seeing now. There are outside factors at work. One is people watching TV on their cell phones where we can’t track them, but the really big factor is the time people are spending on the Wii,” an executive of TBS, a major commercial channel, said.
"Also, 'Wii' sounds like a slang term for urinating," he did not add.
