Welcome to the Video Game Community Adopt a Newbie thread, where Newbie's can request an Adopter to take them under their wings.
But first you might ask:
What is Adopt a Newbie?
Quite simply put, Adopt a Newbie is all about teaching new members the basics of being a Video Game Community Member. Potential Adopters can show their newbie around, give him help, and just be a good friend.
But please note that in order to be an Adopter, you must be certified by either myself or another Newbie Adopter Certifier.
Keep in mind that being a Newbie Adopter takes a lot of work and responsibilty, and shouldn't be taken lightly. If you recieve a Newbie as an Adoptee, treat them as you would your child, or your best friend.
Make sure to make your Adoptee feel special and liked all the time, even if they are a tad annoying (It'll pass)
Things to NOT do:
> PM the Newbie and say "Oh yeah I forgot, I have to go on vacation soon"
> Ignore your adoptee
> Bash and / or flame your adoptee
> Make him feel unliked
Things to DO:
> PM them regularly and try and start some conversation. You'll be suprised at the amount of things you have in common.
> Stick up for them
> Guide them around the Forums, explaining everything
> Answer any questions they may have
> Be a general Friend
To become a Newbie Adopter, it is required that you are certified. To become certified, PM any of the below Newbie Adopter Certifiers and tell them one reason why you should be an Adopter and why you want to become one.
This answer must be at least 3 sentences total, no less. If you are accepted, they will add you to the Official Adopter List, and then you will be free to pick up any Newbies.
Keep in mind you may only take one Newbie at a time, unless given special permission
Being an Adoptee is just as much hard work as being an Adopter. You have to respect your Adopter, and try not to cause them problems.
Be a friend to them, and try to strike up some conversation :p
Also, make sure you can be commited to this, if you go idle for a long period of time, or decide to leave, make sure you tell your Adopter.
All Newbie's wishing to be Adopted, post in this thread, and tell a little bit about yourself (your interests, et.c.) and why you want to be Adopted.
Adopters: Post in this thread to notify that you have chosen to Adopt so-and-so. The Adoption MUST be approved by a Certifier. Please PM them and ask if the match is acceptable. You MAY NOT Adopt someone if you are NOT certified.
