Pokerus FAQ
Since Diamond and Pearl are now online and you have a greater chance of getting the Pokemon Virus, Pokerus, and a lot of people have no idea what it is or anything because it is so rare, I thought I'll make an information thread all about it! Please tell me if this helped you in any way, and if you still have questions, feel free to ask!
Question: What is a Pokerus?
Answer: It is a Pokemon virus that just some random Pokemon get. No, its not a held item or anything, its a virus. There is no way to tell if a Pokemon has it or not when your battling wild Pokemon (That I know of. Let me know if there is). But don't be afraid because it is a virus because it actually helps your Pokemon. They will grow better and get better stats when they have it, but it doesn't last forever.
Question: If it doesn't last forever, how long does it last, and is there any way to make it last longer?
Answer: It can usually last a while, but not that long. You can make it last longer by first infecting the Pokemon you want to infect, then storing a Pokemon that has it in a Box because if its in a Box then it can't lose it.
Question: How do I infect other Pokemon?
Answer: Its simple to infect other Pokemon, so don't worry about it. All you have to do is take the infected Pokemon into your party with the Pokemon that you want to be infected (It can infect more than one at a time) and go into battles and just do things like that. I personnally think that going into battles makes them get infected faster, but I don't know for sure. Also, the Pokemon thats infected does NOT have to battle for the others to get infected.
Question: How can I tell if a Pokemon I caught is infected or I got one of my other Pokemon infected?
Answer: All you have to do is look at the summary of your Pokemon and for Status it will say PKRS (Pokerus) or in Diamond and Pearl it says it under their name on the summary page. Though it says PKRS next to status, it does NOT say it in a Battle as a status Condition, meaning that Pokemon can still get Paralyzed, Burned, etc. Also, if the Pokemon is in your Party and you just got it and you go to the Pokemon center to revive your Pokemon, the nurse will tell you that it has Pokerus.
Question: Can you infect your Pokemon more than once?
Answer: No, you can't. Once you infect your Pokemon once and the Pokerus goes away, there will be a sad smiley next to your Pokemon on the summary page meaning that they are now immune to the virus. So if you want to try and keep and use it for as long as possible, you need to put Pokemon in the box that you want to keep Pokerus for as long as possible!
Question: What should I do to get the most out of my Pokerus?
Answer: If you happen to get the famous Pokerus infect a Pokemon that you think you are gonna use in almost all your battles and just train the heck out of it! Pokerus makes its stats go up faster per level so if you get Pokerus it is a good idea just to try and train that Pokemon as much as you can once you infect it. Because once its gone, the stats will go up normally again.
Question: Is it better to start training my Pokemon on a higher or lower level?
Answer: The lower, the better. The reason I say this is because then there is more levels for it to grow and for the stats to go up! If you start it on, say level 50 then its stats wouldn't be able to go up near as much as if it were on level 5! So it would make sense to start it on the lowest level you can!
For additional information and some pictures, here is where you can see it on Serebii.net: Pokerus Information
Those are all the questions that I can think of for now, but as I see more or you ask more, I'll add the question and put the answer! Tell me what you think of my FAQ! I love Karma!
